Who We Are

Animal collageFor over 50 years Wildlife Materials Inc. (WMI) has taken great pride in providing quality VHF transmitters and receivers for wildlife research and management projects. Founded in 1970 by Robert Hawkins, a wildlife biologist with Southern Illinois University Cooperative Wildlife Research Labs, and his wife Linda, WMI has provided equipment for projects around the world.

Today the company is run by a team of long-term employees who take great pride in the work that they do and the impact that the equipment they build has on our knowledge of the world around us. The company today is headed by Richard Blanchard, a wildlife biologist who spent much of his early career working on white-tailed deer in southern Illinois and tigers in Peninsular (West) Malaysia.

Just as many of our products have changed over the years, so have the field conditions under which they are used. The assault on the land and habitats that wildlife depend on continues to increase. If we are to help them survive, it is vitally important that we learn as much as we can about what they need to survive and how they use the land. The people at WMI stand with you in your efforts to discover these needs.
